Assergi (L'Aquila), December 17, 2015 - The Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park and the association "Explora Nunaat International" look to further projects of cooperation in the name of the mountains and of the human and spiritual values which they emanate. Their collaboration will result mainly in concrete actions in support of the "forgotten" territories in Rolwaling Valley, Nepal.
Here, where the Explora team made its recent "Extreme Malangur 2015" expedition, donations and aids after the earthquake arrived poorly, even if the villages were totally destroyed and communities are still hard hit by the consequences of the devastating earthquake. For this reason the Administration together with Explora will continue and strengthen the campaign "Visit Nepal to help Nepal", in order to support the recovery of tourism in the Himalayas.
The proposal made by Explora President Davide Peluzzi to unite the territories of the Gran Sasso and the Himalayas through a mountaineering route dedicated to the memory of Walter Bonatti, found the support of the Park's Director Domenico Nicoletti, who appreciated the perspective of a union between peoples and cultures in the name of mountains and with the aim of a more integrated relationship between man and nature.
The Authority has committed to share and support the implementation of the “Bonatti Route” by promoting it through the means available to the Park, as well as a cultural initiative that will take place in the next Spring. Among the commitments there is also to give effect to the twinning with the Gaurishankar National Park both in terms of transfer of good practices and by including aid initiatives and cooperation in the future crowdfunding program that the Park is about to start.
The "Bonatti Route" expecially designed for nature and adventure lovers, is "for everyone and for no one", as Peluzzi said, because it can be enjoyed at different levels of difficulty in many areas of outstanding beauty. It starts from Nerito and crosses the wild woods of Monte Cardito and Monte Corvo reaching Campo Imperatore plateau and Rocca Calascio, trough the rocky ridges of Malecoste. The Gran Sasso trail will continue in the Rolwaling Valley, whose wild nature in many ways reminds the wildeness of the Chiarino "secret valley”.
